Late Freethrows Down Golden Eagles
Oklahoma City, Okla. (November 29, 2007) — John Brown fell 62-65 after OCU’s Matthew Guymon sank two free throws with five seconds left to give the NAIA's No. 1 ranked Oklahoma City Stars the victory over JBU on Thursday night at Abe Lemons Arena.
John Brown entered the break leading 37-33 and held on to the lead until OCU went ahead 48-47 at the 12:36 mark.
Both teams traded baskets until OCU pulled away at the 5:23 mark after breaking a 53-53 tie.
Cody Page led JBU with 23 points. And senior post Joel Tesis added 19 points and seven boards.
Willie Irick led OCU with 15 points, while Ollie Bailey added 12.
John Brown fell to 6-2, 0-1 in the Sooner Athletic Conference. Oklahoma City improved to 3-3, 1-0.
JBU returns to action at home on Saturday against conference opponent Mid-America Christian at 3 p.m. in Murray Sells Gymnasium.
