JBU Goes Green

Siloam Springs, Ark. (December 10, 2007) — John Brown University has gone green with all of the cleaning products its custodial services use on campus. In a partnership with Treat Solutions, Inc., who will be supplying the Green Seal products, JBU has transitioned to all environmentally friendly products. The Green products provided by Treat’s Solutions, Inc. have gone through a certification process that meets environmental standards and have earned the “Green Seal” certificate, making them the most environmentally preferable products available. JBU recently made this change after learning that the use of Green products in high performance cleaning do more than improve facility appearance, cost about the same as traditional products and have lower Volatile Organic Compounds (VOC) than traditional products. Lower VOCs lessen the negative impact on breathable air, producing a healthier indoor environment. “We wanted to provide products and services that are safe and friendly for our buildings,” said James Garst, custodial foreman at JBU. “Switching to Green products allowed us to take better care of our buildings, improve the health and well-being of our students, teachers, and staff and enable us to do our part in protecting the environment.” Green Seal, Inc. is an independent, non-profit organization located in Washington, D.C. that works to create a healthier and cleaner environment. John Brown University is a private Christian university, ranked fourth by U.S. News & World Report in the Southern Region. JBU enrolls more than 2,000 students from 42 states and 49 countries. JBU is a member of Arkansas’s Independent Colleges & Universities and the Council for Christian Colleges & Universities.
