Conway, Ark. (December 29, 2007) - John Brown men’s basketball returned from a three-week hiatus to claim an 83-77 win over Central Baptist (Ark.) on Saturday night.
Sophomore Davaughn Jackson led the way with 20 points and 10 rebounds. Andrius Mikutis and James Manthe added 12 apiece.
JBU (7-4, 1-2) was down one at the break but jumped out a six-point lead early in the second half and held on for the win.
With the remainder of the Sooner Athletic Conference schedule beginning next week, head coach Clark Sheehy is pleased with the way his team played after being off for three weeks.
“It was a good win over a team that’s been playing really well this year,” said Sheehy. “Our guys played hard and made several great plays when we needed them. And we’ll need to continue improving as we look ahead to Lubbock Christian (Texas) and Wayland Baptist (Texas).”
John Brown looks to face Lubbock Christian on Thursday, Jan. 3 at 8 p.m. and Wayland Baptist on Saturday, Jan. 5 at 3 p.m.
