Dr. Mark Laasar to Speak on Sexual Purity
Siloam Springs, Ark (January 24, 2000) — The John Brown University Center for Marriage and Family Studies is sponsoring Dr. Mark Laasar at the First Baptist Church of Springdale on Thursday, January 27 at 1:30 p.m. Dr. Laasar will be speaking on "Faithful and True: Maintaining Sexual Purity in an Impure World."
In our culture where does a person go to develop a healthy, Christ-honoring attitude and lifestyle concerning sexuality? In this seminar, Dr. Laasar will teach God’s plan for sexual purity, how to help people deal with the consequences of sexual sin, and how to guide them to restoration, wholeness and a biblical view of a healthy sexuality.
"From the media to the movie theaters to the Internet, everyone is bombarded with subtle and blatant sexual messages. Many people have developed distorted beliefs and practices concerning sexuality and many marriages and families are destroyed by the consequences of immorality and sexual impurity," said Dr. Gary Oliver, Executive Director of the Center for Marriage and Family Studies. "Millions of dollars are spent purchasing pornography that distorts and perverts healthy sexual relationships."
Dr. Mark Laasar graduated from Princeton Theological Seminary with a degree in ministry and from the University of Iowa with a Ph.D. in pastoral counseling. He has lectured and conducted workshops about addictions, families, and marriage building around the country. Dr. Laasar has also authored or co-authored several books including Faithful and True, Before the Fall, and Restoring the Soul of the Church.
