CRE Grant Funds Engaged Couple Seminar

Siloam Springs, Ark. (October 10, 2008) — The Center for Relationship Enrichment (CRE) will offer the “I Choose Us” engaged couples seminar Wednesday, Oct. 15, 6 p.m.-10 p.m. and Wednesday, Oct. 22, 6 p.m.-10 p.m. at the Embassy Suites in Rogers. The event is $20 per couple and reservations are required. The two-day event will help equip engaged couples with eight hours of marriage enrichment education, a personal couples’ assessment report and a discussion guide for ongoing couple interaction. Attending this event also qualifies engaged couples for a covenant marriage license, if married in the state of Arkansas. “With the latest research showing that Northwest Arkansas has the highest divorce rate in Arkansas and perhaps the highest in the nation, it is important that we equip engaged couples with the knowledge and skills that will increase their ability to build and sustain a healthy, satisfying and lifelong marriage,” Greg Smalley, director of Marriage Ministries for the Center for Relationship Enrichment, said. CRE recently finished the second year of a five-year, $2.7 million federal grant from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services' Administration for Children and Families, to support research and development of healthy marriages in Northwest Arkansas. The grant covers most of the cost of the seminar, which would otherwise cost more than $200 per couple. Couples can register for the event online at www.nwamarriages.com, or by calling 479-524-7444.
