Siloam Springs, Ark. (October 25, 2008) - The John Brown University men’s soccer team fell 3-2 in non-conference action at home on Saturday afternoon to Columbia (Mo.).
Juan Iraola scored back to back goals in the second half to put JBU (6-7-1) ahead 2-1 at the 57 minute mark.
However, in the 80th minute, Columbia’s Parker Rawdon scored the equalizer to bring his team back into the game. Then with two minutes remaining in regulation, JBU keeper Spencer Watson got called for a foul which forced a penalty kick for Columbia. Dylan Barduzzi converted the attempt to give his team the 3-2 lead.
Overall, JBU outshot Columbia 15-14 with a 9-6 shot on goal differential. Watson had three saves. Columbia’s keeper Goran Vuklis picked up seven saves.
Up next, JBU returns to conference play when they head to Claremore, Okla. on Wednesday to take on Rogers State at 7 p.m.
