JBU Students Present “Singin’ in the Rain”
Siloam Springs, Ark. (October 31, 2008) — John Brown University Music Theatre Workshop and Theatre Workshop will present the classic production “Singin’ in the Rain” Oct. 31 and Nov. 1, 2, 6, 7, 8 and 9. The musical is based on the 1952 film of the same name, frequently described as one of the best musicals ever made. The largest cast JBU theatre has seen in a long time has been preparing since the summer for the music and dance-filled production. “The audience can expect to be swept away to the late 1920’s during the movie industry’s transformation from silent film to talkies, where dancing, singing, a touch of romance and lots of laughs are the norm,” said Donna Rollene, co-director of the musical and JBU music instructor. “The costumes are beautiful, creative and colorful. The talented students are full of energy, while the atmosphere is intimate where you will see every nuance, every drop of wit, every expression.” “Singin’ in the Rain” is open to the public of all ages. Ticket prices are $10 for adults, $8 for senior citizens and alumni, and $6 for non JBU students. Nightly performances begin at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday performances begin at 3:00 p.m. Seats can be reserved by calling the JBU Box Office at 524-7382.
