Siloam Springs, Ark. (November 8, 2008) - The JBU men’s soccer team knocked down the 17th ranked Oklahoma Baptist Bison on Friday afternoon after forcing a shootout.
Playing as the No. 7 seed against the No. 2 seed OBU, the Golden Eagles hung tough throughout regulation and two overtime periods before winning 4-2 off of penalty kicks. Sophomore’s Gabriel Duarte and Adrian Jasso notched the first two goals while junior Justin Thompson put away the third with freshman Hunter Bradford securing the victory with the fourth. OBU only converted on two of four penalty kick attempts. Keeper Spencer Watson had a big night for JBU earning eight saves including a key save during shootout action.
With the win, JBU advances to the semifinals to face the No. 3 seed Southern Nazarene (Okla.) on Monday at SNU at 2 p.m.
