JBU to Host Bible Across America at JBU Rogers Center
Siloam Springs, Ark. (December 12, 2008) — John Brown University is hosting the Rogers stop of the Bible Across America tour, a special project by Zondervan to celebrate and commemorate the 30th anniversary of the NIV translation of the Bible.
The Bible Across America tour is traveling by RV across the country and will stop in 90 cities including Rogers, Ark. At each tour stop, the public is invited to leave their mark on Bible history by handwriting an individual verse of the Bible which will form “America’s NIV Bible,” the first NIV Bible ever written one-verse, one-person at a time.
When completed, the hand-written Bible – “America’s NIV Bible – will be published for retail sale across the nation, with each contributor’s name referenced in the index.
Zondervan will donate one of the two original hand-written copies to the Smithsonian Institution. The second will be auctioned off to benefit the International Bible Society.
The stop in Rogers on Jan. 7 will be at the John Brown University Rogers Center, 2807 Ajax Ave, from 1 p.m. – 7 p.m.
The nation-wide tour is expected to generate hand-written verses from more than 31,000 Americans, one for every verse of the Bible, during the 44-state cross-country tour. More information on the project is available at www.bibleacrossamerica.com.
