Expanded Dogwood Springs Trail Will Loop JBU
Siloam Springs, Ark. (April 1, 2009) — The Dogwood Springs Trail offers countless benefits to the Siloam Springs community, and now it will be expanded thanks to a partnership between JBU, the Walton Family Foundation and the City of Siloam Springs.
The Walton Family Foundation will fund all material cost through a $313,775 gift to the city. JBU provided land easements for the new trail. The city of Siloam Springs is providing all the labor and maintenance for the new trail.
“JBU is grateful to have the chance to partner with the City of Siloam Springs and Walton Family Foundation to extend the city’s trail around the edge of our campus, a route which offers some of the most scenic views of Sager Creek. I expect that the trail will be greatly enjoyed by students and citizens alike,” Dr. Chip Pollard, president of JBU, said.
This expansion will add 1.74 miles to the existing trail system, linking the existing trail that ends at University and Dogwood to a trail that loops around the JBU campus alongside Sager Creek, then joins with the existing trail near Oak Hills Cemetery. The trail will be a six-foot wide asphalt-walking path.
