Men blanked by NSU

Tahlequah, Okla. (September 16, 2009) — The JBU men’s soccer team lost their first road match 2-0 to NCAA Division II Northeastern State (Okla.) on Wednesday afternoon. With the loss, JBU drops to 4-2 overall.

NSU (4-2) posted both goals in the first half. The first came in the 27th minute when Sambo Claros scored off a deflection at the eight yard mark. NSU struck again in the 38th with Zach Schmoker finishing with the header to put NSU ahead 2-0.

JBU tried to respond in the second half, but the Riverhawks wouldn’t let down as they held on for the shutout.

NSU outshot the Golden Eagles 18-9 with a 10-5 shots-on-goal advantage.

The Golden Eagles remain on the road this upcoming Saturday when they face Hannibal-LaGrange (Mo.). Game time is 1 p.m.
