Netters unsuccessful at home triangular
Siloam Springs, Ark. (October 16, 2009) — The JBU women’s volleyball team dropped a pair of non-conference bouts to Arkansas Ft. Smith and Evangel (Mo.) on Friday evening during the JBU Triangular. The losses drop the women to 18-7 overall.
In their first match against UAFS (23-3), the women fell 1-3. After taking the first set 25-23, the women lost the next three consecutive sets 23-25, 17-25, 17-25.
Erin Didier and Amber Wilson posted 12 kills each for JBU. Britney Kern and Alyssa Hanson totaled 25 and 18 assists respectively.
Shannon Proctor had 18 digs to lead the defense. And Christi Newton added three blocks.
Jettie Stec led UAFS with 14 kills.
The women faced and equally challenging opponent in Evangel during their second match. They found themselves in a hole down 2-0 but managed to win sets three and four before giving up the 2-3 (20-25, 22-25, 25-21, 25-13, 15-9) decision in the fifth.
Kirsten Lee totaled 13 kills to the lead the way followed by Wilson with 11. Kerns and Hanson each had 22 assists.
Proctor totaled 22 digs and Newton posted six blocks.
Brittni Jessen, Amanda Robertson, and Kaley Lyons each tallied 11 kills for EU (21-6).
In the second match of the triangular, UAFS defeated EU 3-0.
JBU returns to action when they travel to Shawnee, Okla. to take on Oklahoma Baptist next Thursday, Oct. 22 at 7:30 p.m. in SAC action.
