Men blanked by Eagles

Siloam Springs, Ark. (October 27, 2009) — In their final regular season game, the JBU men’s soccer team came up empty falling 1-0 to Oklahoma Christian on Tuesday afternoon. The men close out the regular season at 10-7-1 overall and 4-4-1 in the Sooner Athletic Conference.

The match was even throughout with neither team getting a clear attempt on goal during the first half.

In the second period, Matt Lambert scored the game winner in the 79th minute when his shot slipped through the hands of JBU’s keeper Ryan Helmer to give OC the lead. JBU gave an effort to force overtime but the OC defense was up to task as they held on for the shutout.

OC (9-3-1, 4-2) outshout JBU 20-15 with a 10-6 shots on goal advantage.

Helmer picked up nine saves in the loss, while OC’s Tim Spencer earned the win after turning away six.
