Siloam Springs, Ark. (November 21, 2009) - Coleson Rakestraw posted a career high 24 points to help propel JBU (5-0) past Central Baptist (Ark.) on Saturday afternoon in Murray Sells.
Rakestraw went 7-of-15 from the floor including 5-of-10 from downtown and was a perfect 5-of-5 from the foul line. Davaughn Jackson picked up another double-double with 18 points and 11 rebounds. Adrian Miller added 15 points and five assists.
CJ McCoy had 23 points, three assists, and two blocks for CBC (5-1).
Overall, JBU shot 50 percent (32-64) from the floor but struggled from long range only nailing 31 percent (8-26) of their attempts. CBC also had a strong shooting night going 46 percent (21-46) overall. JBU dominated the glass 35-25 and also forced 18 turnovers while committing only 12.
At the half, the Eagles were only ahead by three points, 44-41, but in the second half, JBU quickly gained momentum and took control of the game and pushed the lead to 20 points at one point before cruising to an easy finish.
JBU will open Sooner Athletic Conference play on Tuesday when they face defending SAC champs Rogers State (Okla.) at home at 8 p.m. The women will tip-off at 6 p.m.
