OC wins battle of Lady Eagles
Oklahoma City (February 25, 2010) — The JBU women’s basketball team lost 72-54 to Oklahoma Christian on Thursday night in Oklahoma City. The loss drops JBU to 10-19 overall and 6-15 in the Sooner Athletic Conference.
Junior Ashley Taylor paced JBU with 16 points, followed by Katie Mangels and Emily Ortiz with 12 and 11 points respectively.
OC (18-11, 11-10) was led by Kailan DeCamp who finished with 16 points, four rebounds, and five assists.
JBU fell behind early and went into the locker rooms behind 41-32.
In the second period, OC continued to extended their lead and went ahead by as many as 20 before securing the 18 point win.
For the game, JBU shot 37% from the floor while giving up 48% to OC. OC won the rebounding battle 33-27 and also forced 16 JBU turnovers while committing only 10.
JBU returns home for their final regular season game on Saturday at 4 p.m. against Northwestern Okla. State. With NWOSU a game ahead of JBU in the SAC standings, JBU must win in order to have a shot at the SAC tournament next week.
