JBU STUDENT LOAN DEFAULT RATE LOWEST OF AR UNDERGRAD. UNIV.
Siloam Springs, Ark (March 31, 1998) — In a November survey by the United States Department of Education, John Brown University's 3.8% student loan default rate ranked second lowest of all 67 colleges and universities in the state of Arkansas. Only one graduate school, U of A Medical School in Little Rock, ranked lower.
The state universities averaged between 7% (U of A-Fayetteville) and 23% (U of A-Pine Bluff). Most of the technical schools and community colleges were in the 15 to 30% default range.
"This data speaks highly of the type of students we attract, the loan counseling they receive and the level of integrity they leave with after graduation," said Marilae Latham, director of financial aid. "This is certainly cause for celebration."
