Siloam Springs, Ark. (September 4, 2010) — The men’s soccer team picked up their first win of the 2010 season after routing Northwood (Texas) 6-2 on Saturday afternoon at Alumni Field.

Senior Sasha Viatrov got the ball rolling for JBU after scoring unassisted in the 32nd minute, and freshman Ramon Martinez and senior Gabriel Duarte added two more before intermission for a 3-0 JBU cushion heading into the break.

Northwood made it 3-1 after Stewart White scored unassisted, but Duarte struck again for JBU making it 4-1 in the 65th. Carlos Villalta gave Northwood a spark after adding a second Knight goal in the 70th, but freshman Bryan Garcia added two more in the last 10 minutes of the match to seal the deal for the Golden Eagles.

"Anytime you can get a big win at home your happy with that," said head coach John Miglarese. "Now we need to get ready for two tough teams coming in next week."

Now at 1-1, the Golden Eagles look ahead to the JBU Quality Inn Fall Classic next weekend. JBU hosts Lyon (Ark.) on Friday at 3 p.m. then turn around to play Belhaven (Miss.) on Saturday at 3 p.m.
