Siloam Springs, Ark. (September 10, 2010) — Senior Gabriel Duarte’s breakaway goal in the fifth minute of overtime helped the JBU men’s soccer team earn a 3-2 win over Lyon (Ark.) on day one of the 2010 Quality Inn Fall Classic.

JBU was in shape for an easy victory after putting away two easy goals in the first. The first came from Duarte in the 27th minute and junior Josh Baldwin added another in the 41st.

The Scots (3-1) fought back in the second half shutting out the JBU offense and scoring two goals of their own both from Martel Reid-Warden in the 48th and 63rd minutes to force overtime.

JBU’s lone scoring opportunity in the overtime period was the only attempt they needed. Duarte beat his defender and snuck a low shot that crept pass the keeper for the win.

The Golden Eagles, now 2-1 on the year, turn around and face Belhaven (Miss.) tomorrow at 3 p.m. In their first match if the classic, Belhaven defeated Oklahoma City 3-1.
