Mount Vernon, Ohio (September 11, 2010) — The JBU women’s soccer team took home top prize at the Mount Vernon Nazarene Classic after blowing by Cincinnati Christian 5-0 on Saturday afternoon.

Senior’s Sarah Kidd and Jodi Knack scored two goals in the 25th and 28th minutes of the first half for the 2-0 lead heading into the break. In the second period, freshman Ashley Cochran added another in the 56th minute, and senior Camille Malkiewicz chipped in JBU’s fourth in the 57th. Kidd sealed the deal with JBU fifth and final goal in the 58th minute. Malkiewicz picked up four assists on the day.

Freshman Alysan Burgbacher picked up the shutout after starting in goal.

Overall, JBU out shot CCU 27-7 with a 13-1 shots on goal advantage.

Kidd earned overall tournament MVP for her two-day performance, and junior Emily Anderson was name Defensive MVP. Camille Malkiewicz, Alex McMichael, Faith Thurman, and Cam Martin were also named to the All-tournament Team.

The 24th ranked Golden Eagles return to action on Friday, September 17 when they travel to take on Baker (Kan.) University for a 3 p.m. bout.
