JBU to Host Forensics Scrimmage

Siloam Springs, Ark. (September 29, 2010) — The John Brown University Forensics team will host the first Golden Eagle Scrimmage Oct. 1-2 on JBU's campus in Siloam Springs. One hundred and fifty-one competitors from five states and 20 schools will participate in the competition. Competitive categories for the event include public speaking, debate and oral interpretation.

“This is a great opportunity for the JBU forensics team to serve other schools that participate in speech and debate competitions,” said Erick Roebuck, assistant professor of communications and JBU speech coach said. “Also, we are able to serve our own students by providing a local tournament for some to compete in and others to observe. Students become better communicators through the educational activity of intercollegiate forensics competition.”
