Siloam Springs, Ark. (October 10, 2010) — The JBU women’s soccer team quickly took control of the match on Saturday afternoon and eventually put away Wayland Baptist (Texas) 7-0 on Homecoming Weekend at JBU. The win improves the women to 7-2-1 overall and 3-1 in the SAC.

JBU scored two goals in the first half, and then left no doubt after putting five more in the back of the net in the second. Senior Jodi Knack and freshman Ashley Cochran scored in the fifth and 13th minutes respectively with senior Ashleigh Noble picking up an assist for Cochran.

In the second period, sophomore Cheyenne Padgett gave the Eagles a four goal lead when she scored back to back goals in the 45th and 47th minutes. Cochran scored again in the 62nd minute to make it 5-0, and senior Natiel Bauer added a sixth before freshman Savannah Stauffer put on the finishing touches with the seventh in the 76th minute. Stauffer and senior Alex McMichael both had assists on the day. Sophomore Faith Thurman earned the shutout after turning away one.

JBU returns to the field at home on Tuesday at 1 p.m. against Oklahoma City. Oklahoma City is currently ranked first in the SAC and 23rd in the country.
