Men's basketball signs local stud early
Siloam Springs, Ark. (November 12, 2010) — The JBU men’s basketball program took advantage of the early signing period and landed Jared Johnson, a 6-6 forward/center from West Fork, Arkansas.
Johnson has been a two-time Class 4A All-State and All-District selection during his time at West Fork High School. He’s played on the varsity team since his freshman year and has helped West Fork accumulate over 67 wins up to this point. And as a junior, he averaged 14 points and 10 rebounds per game.
“We’re excited for Jared,” said West Ford head boys’ basketball coach David Ferrell. “We hate to see him leave because he’s been such a great player for us, and as good as a basketball player that JBU is getting, they are getting an even better person.”
Head JBU basketball coach Clark Sheehy concurred with Coach Ferrell’s comments and added that he’s looking forward to Johnson adding toughness and a physical presence at the post position.
Johnson, the son of John and Rose Mary, plans to major in education.
