Sam Bartlett had 19 points in Saturday's loss to Wayland Baptist.

Plainview, Texas (February 26, 2011) — The JBU men’s basketball team had their six game winning streak snapped on Saturday afternoon after falling to Wayland Baptist 69-75 in Plainview, Texas.

The loss drops JBU to 22-8 on the season and into sole possession of fourth place in the SAC with a 14-8 conference record heading into tournament play.

Sam Bartlett led JBU with 19 points, while Ryland Allen continued his hot shooting with 14.  Andy Garcia added 12 and Adrian Miller pitched in with 10.

For WBU (9-18, 4-20), Josh Teague had 17.  George Williams finished with 15.  And Nathan Harbour and John Terra added 14 and 11 respectively. 

After falling behind 3-0 early, the Pioneers gained the lead and never fell behind.   Despite a late first half push from JBU that made it 34-35 heading into the locker rooms, WBU opened the second half on an 8-0 run that kept the Golden Eagles at bay. 

With 2:02 left to play, WBU held their largest lead of the day at 71-57 before closing it out with the six point win.

For the game, JBU shot 50 percent (27-54) from the field while giving up 54.5 percent (24-44) to the Pioneers.  WBU also took the rebounding battle 33-26 and managed to force 12 JBU turnovers, while committing only six. 

JBU now awaits the release of the SAC tournament bracket, which is scheduled to come out on Sunday evening.
