Catoosa, Okla. (April 28, 2011) - The JBU men’s golf team completed the 2010-2011 season with a ninth place finish in the 2011 Sooner Athletic Conference Men’s Golf Tournament hosted by Rogers State at the Cherokee Hills Golf Club in Catoosa, Okla. on Wednesday.
The Golden Eagles finished the par 70, 6,637 yard course, with a three-round total of 985. Oklahoma City claimed first place after shooting an 858, finishing eight strokes ahead of runner up Oklahoma Christian. Southern Nazarene (Okla.) placed third.
Individually for JBU, junior West Loveland led the team after finishing tied for 32nd with a 231 (70, 80, 81), while junior Matt Brooker finished 38th with a 238 (78, 81, 79). Senior Jeff Hobble placed 45th after dropping in a 255 (88, 77, 90). And sophomores Nathan Sudheimer and Cameron Lindsey tied for 48th with 266.
Oklahoma Christian’s Preston Wilkins claimed the individual first place title after shooting a three round total of 210 (66, 72, 72).
“We are continuing to improve every year, and I’m proud of the way the team handled adversity this season,” said head men’s golf coach Brian Thomas. “One of our goals this year was to win an individual tournament and we came very close to accomplishing that this year. I’m looking forward to next season and our continued improvement.”
