Sharkey Signs with Women's Soccer

Siloam Springs, Ark. (June 8, 2011) — Alexa Sharkey, a 5-10 defender from Winfield, Ill., has signed a letter of intent to play women’s soccer for JBU this fall.

A multi-sport athlete in high school, Sharkey excelled in both soccer and basketball while at Wheaton Academy (Ill.).  In soccer, Sharkey started all four years of her high school career and tallied 82 goals and 56 assists.  In 2009, she guided her squad to the Illinois High School Association Class 2A State Title and a third place finish in the state tournament in 2010.   Starkey also garnered numerous individual accolades during this time, which included being named the 2010 Wheaton Academy Female Scholar Athlete of the Year.

Sharkey will be transferring in as a sophomore academically, after spending a year at Elmhurst College in Illinois.
