Netters Ranked Sixth in SAC Poll
JBU returns nine lettermen with the addition of five freshmen to the 2011 squad.
Siloam Springs, Arkansas (August 16, 2011) — The JBU women’s volleyball team was picked sixth after receiving 24 votes in the 2011 Preseason Sooner Athletic Conference Volleyball Coaches’ Poll released Monday.
The Lady Eagles finished the 2010 season with an 18-17 record overall and 5-9 record in SAC competition. JBU returns nine letterman with an additional five freshmen to the 2011 squad.
Oklahoma Baptist (26-10 last season) had four of the eight first-place votes to finish atop the poll with 46 points. Lubbock Christian (25-8) had three first-place votes and finished with 41 points. Wayland Baptist (20-9) is ranked third with 36 points. Oklahoma City (23-14), winners of last season’s post-season SAC Tournament, got the remaining first-place vote and had 31 points for the fourth-place ranking.
Ranked fifth is Southern Nazarene with 26 points, followed by John Brown, Mid-America Christian at 11, and St. Gregory’s with nine points.
The Lady Eagles kick off the season on the road when they travel to Shawnee, Okla. to compete in the OBU Bison Blast on August 26-27. To view the complete 2011 schedule click here.
