by Sidney Van Wyk

The Lady Eagles suffered a close loss of 3-2 to Southwest Assemblies of God (Texas) (25-14, 23-25, 23-25, 25-21, 15-17) on Friday night in the Bill George Arena.

JBU began the match by winning the first game by over 10 points, but SAGU gained momentum, picking out the Eagle's open spaces and making good blocks, allowing them to take the next two games by two points.

JBU held on and took the fourth game with strong serving and an aggressive offense, forcing the match to a fifth game.

In the final game, both teams played aggressively and forced the game past a 15 point finish.  In the end, SAGU took the win.

Erin Didier led both teams offensively with 26 kills for the match.  Allie Rankin had 14 kills followed by Staci Williamson and Erin McIlroy with 10 kills each.

Williamson led the Lady Eagles defensively with 19 digs followed by Sarah Jordan with 18.

JBU plays again at Oklahoma Wesleyan on Sept. 20 at 7 p.m. following the JV match at 5 p.m.
