Men's soccer blanked by Drovers
Siloam Springs, Ark. (October 22, 2011) — The JBU men’s soccer team fell 1-0 to No. 23 Science & Arts of Okla. on Saturday afternoon at Alumni Field bringing their record to 7-7-1 overall and 4-2-1 in the SAC.
USAO (12-3, 8-0) got on the board in the 34h minute when Nicolas Alberto managed to beat the defense after receiving a slotted ball from Kalokwera Okot. After drawing out JBU keeper Pablo Garcia, Alberto tapped in the lone goal of the match.
JBU had several opportunities to tie but couldn’t convert as the Drover defense negated all attempts.
Statistically, USAO outshot JBU 16-8 with a 6-4 shots on goal advantage. Garcia picked up five saves in the losing effort, while USAO’s Bryan Byars recorded four.
The Golden Eagles return to action on Wednesday, October 26 at 3 p.m. on the road against Oklahoma Baptist.
