Eagles win final fall home game

The JBU men’s basketball team improved Monday night to 10-1 overall after defeating Ecclesia College (Ark.) 88-51 at Bill George Arena.
Freshman Tucker Trumbo led JBU with 18 points followed by senior Andy Garcia with 16. Senior Thomas Galliguez finished the evening with six assists followed by junior EJ McWoods with five. Freshman Max Hopfgartner had five total rebounds for the game.
Ecclesia also had two players finish with double digits in points led by Harold Reed with 14 and David Eichler with 11. Jason Holmstrom led the Royals in rebounds with six.
JBU started the game slow, but picked up the pace with a 12-0 run starting at the 10:33 mark with a field goal by senior Adrian Miller. JBU held up to eventually take a 27 point lead with 4:33 left in the first half, but finished 48-28 going into the half.
In the second half, JBU maintained a large lead. Freshman Joseph Pelegreen scored a field goal at the 1:59 mark to bring JBU to its highest lead of 35 points. A minute later, junior Samuel Johnson was fouled and scored the final two points of the game in free throws, ending the game at 88-51.
For the game, JBU hit 58.1 percent (25-of-43) compared to 47.1 percent (24-of-51) from EC. JBU took the rebounding advantage 27-26.
The men return to action on the road on Dec. 10 to face conference opponent Rogers State (Okla.) once again. Tip-off is at 5 p.m.
