The JBU men's basketball team lost 71-56 to Oklahoma Christian Saturday evening at Bill George Arena, resulting in a 13-5 overall record and 5-5 in conference play. OC's record improves to 11-6 overall and 6-4 in the SAC.
JBU held the lead most of the first half, only allowing OC to take a three point lead with a field goal by Kendre Talley at the 12:51 mark. The rest of the first half was neck-and-neck as JBU responded after each attempt to take the lead over OC.
In the second half, JBU took a quick nine point lead with a field goal by Adrian Miller at the 16:33 mark. From then, OC kicked it into high gear eventually using a 12-0 run with only 6:10 left on the clock. JBU was unable to come back before time ran out, resulting in the 15 point loss.
Coleson Rakestraw led JBU with 16 points, followed by Abel Galliguez with 15, and Adrian Miller with 11. Abel Galliguez led JBU with four assist.
OC had four players finish with double digits, led by Will Reinke and Brandon Troutman with 13, followed by Willie Harper and Eric Randall with 11 and 10, respectively. Kendre Talley dished out eight assists for OC.
For the game, JBU shot 30.9 percent (17-of-55) in field goal range, while giving up 46.4 percent (26-of-56) to OC. In three-point range, JBU shot 30.0 percent (9-of-30), and gave up 40.0 percent (8-of-20) to OC. JBU won the rebounding battle 36-34, but committed 16 turnovers while forcing 15 from OC.
Next, JBU hits the road to take on Wayland Baptist Thursday, January 19 in Plainview, Texas at 8 p.m.
