GOLDEN EAGLES WOMEN’S SOCCER MOVES TO 3-0
Siloam Springs, Ark. (September 8, 2003) — The John Brown University women’s soccer team upped their season record to 3-0 with a solid 4-1 win at Friends University in Wichita, Kansas on Saturday. JBU broke open a 1-1 tie with a goal by sophomore Brooke Williams at the 26:00 minute mark in the first half and never looked back adding two unanswered goals later in the game.
JBU Senior Stephanie St. Clair got her first goal of the year putting the Golden Eagles on top 1-0 just 4 minutes into the game. After Friends tied the score at 1-1, William’s goal off a rebound put the Golden Eagles on top for good. Freshman Tara Hachmeister and sophomore Christie Smeal added a goal each as JBU pulled away. JBU dominated play with a 20-7 advantage at shots on goal and a 10-3 corner advantage. Golden Eagle goalkeepers, freshman Jessica Roberts and freshman Amy Menegaz, added 3 saves in the contest.
After traveling to St. Gregory’s University for their first Sooner Athletic Conference game on Monday, September 8, JBU will host the Women’s Fall Classic this weekend with JBU playing Harris Stowe State College at 3:00 p.m. on Friday and Tabor University at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday on Alumni Field on the John Brown University campus.
