Arkansas gets failing grade on campaign finance reform
(September 22, 2003) — (Little Rock-AP) -- A new study ranks Arkansas 41st among the states in how its political donations are disclosed. The Campaign Disclosure Project ranking shows Arkansas scored higher in the strength of its campaign disclosure requirements but uniformly low in the accessibility of campaign data to the public. The report says the state is lacking because there is a no electronic filing system. Secretary of State Charlie Daniels' office says officials are working to develop a voluntary electronic filing system within the next year or so.
