(September 30, 2003) - (Fayetteville-AP) -- This year's freshman class at the University of Arkansas brings higher grade-point averages and standardized test scores. The improvements are expected to help the school meet goals to see more students graduate and stay in Arkansas. The average high school G-P-A for the freshman class is three-point-six, up from three-point-five-seven last fall. Officials are hoping that freshmen will reach an average of three-point-six-five by 2010, the final year in an overall plan to keep more degree-holders in state. Shortly after Chancellor John A- White took over in 1997, the entering freshman's average G-P-A was three-point-four.
