Mexico relationships critical to Arkansas
(October 3, 2003) — (Mexico City-AP) -- Governor Huckabee says it's crucial to maintain firm U-S-Mexico trade ties despite concerns over security and trade issues on both sides of the border. He's on a weeklong visit to Mexico, and called yesterday for a "strong market of the Americas." Today, he's set to tour pyramids in Mexico. He spoke at a breakfast before executives of about 50 Arkansas companies represented in Mexico. Huckabee says Mexicans' fears about the North American Free Trade Agreement are matched by those north of the border. Added to those are concerns among U-S citizens stemming from the September Eleventh terrorist attacks. About 50 Arkansas companies operate in Mexico, led by Wal-Mart and Tyson Foods.
