JBU Basketball Easily Defeats Rhema

Siloam Springs, Ark. (November 18, 2003) — With two even halves of scoring, John Brown University eased to an 88-50 win over Rhema Bible College on Tuesday evening in Siloam Springs. JBU took a 46-16 lead into the locker room at intermission and then came back with 42 points in the second period to round out the team scoring. Three Golden Eagles players were in double figures as junior Pat Smits led the way with 12 points followed closely by sophomore Brandon Cole with 11 and junior Ryan Woodson with 10. Sophomore Andrew Stanek pulled down 12 rebounds to lead that department for JBU.

“We are getting some good looks on the offensive end of the court and several of our new players are beginning to play with more confidence on offense. Shooting 65% as we did in the first half and overall 55% shows that we are working the ball to the open players,” commented Coach John Sheehy following the victory. “It is good that we are able to allow our entire team an opportunity to play so we can see how they will handle the pressure of competition.”

JBU is now 5-0 and will travel to Tahlequah, Oklahoma on Thursday evening for a game with NCAA Division II opponent, Northeastern State University at 8:00 pm.
