JBU Volleyball Has Two Earn All-Region Honors

Siloam Springs, Ark. (November 24, 2003) — Junior Meghann Wharton, on the 1st team, and senior Jairin Schrader, chosen as a 2nd team selection, earned NAIA Region VI volleyball honors today. In addition to being on the 2nd team All-Region, Schrader was also named the Defensive Specialist of the Year in the Region for the second year in a row. Schrader, with 490 digs this season, established a new JBU career record for digs with 1639 surpassing the old record of 1409 set by Melody Murray. Wharton had also been named to the 1st team SAC All-Conference team and was among the leaders for JBU this season in kills with 309, in digs with 141, in service aces with 40 and in blocks with 126.

“Both these players made valuable contributions to our team this season and I am proud of the honors they have gained for themselves individually,” said Coach Robyn Gordon upon learning of the selection to the All-Region team.“
