(November 26, 2003) - (Little Rock-AP) -- Dueling news conferences are set for today on the historic Medicare prescription drug bill that went through Congress yesterday. Senator Blanche Lincoln plans to tout the 395 billion dollar bill at her Little Rock offices, flanked by Cecil Malone, president of Arkansas A-A-R-P. Meanwhile four Arkansas members of Congress who opposed the bill will gather at a Little Rock pharmacy to explain their position. Senator Mark Pryor and Representatives Marion Berry, Mike Ross and Vic Snyder will have their news conference with a senior citizen representative from the National Committee to Preserve Social Security and Medicare. Lincoln said the bill wasn't perfect, but after 38 years of Medicare without prescription drug coverage, its time had come. Pryor and Berry have been particularly outspoken in saying the bill would do more harm than good for America's 40 (m) million seniors.
