(December 3, 2003) — (Little Rock-AP) -- The mayor of Altus said last night that her town loved the first episode of the Fox reality T-V show "The Simple Life". The show follows Paris Hilton, heiress to the hotel fortune, and Nicole Richie, daughter of singer Lionel Richie, as they lived on a hardworking family farm in Altus. The mayor said two restaurants on the town's main street were packed last night as residents crowded in to watch the show's premiere together. Post said she informally polled the crowd and that a couple from Ozark told her that they thought the show was cute, but that it was still too early to tell how the town would come across. The mayor said that she has media interviews lined up starting early in the morning on Wednesday, the day the second episode is to air. Tuesday night, television stations and newspaper writers crowded the town as well, waiting to see what residents would think of the show. So far, Post said she has done interviews with media outlets in Canada, Denver, Dallas, Atlanta, New York, Los Angeles, Saint Louis, Salt Lake City and Detroit. Post said quote -- "A lot of people said they liked that the joke was on the girls and they found out that the simple life is not that simple. Yes they're poking fun of the girls, but in a good way and I think the girls are being good sports about it."
