Garcia Nets Only JBU Goal in 4-1 Loss to Trinity International
Deerfield, Ill. (August 24, 2012) — Laura Garcia notched the first and only goal on the evening for John Brown as the home Trojans of Trinity International (Ill.) scored the final four goals, handing the Golden Eagles a 4-1 loss to open up the 2012 campaign.
Garcia put JBU on the board in the fifth minute when the sophomore striker unleashed a shot that the TIU goalkeeper was unable to control, putting the Golden Eagles up early in the contest. The goal was unassisted.
The Trojans pressed hard and ten minutes later tied the score at one when Ashley Bowman poked in a rebound.
Trinity International then took the lead in the 28th minute when a Trojan midfielder sent a ball from 15 yards out and connected with a striker, putting JBU on its heels.
Down one at the half, the Golden Eagles attempted to rally but were unable to find the back of the net again. The host Trojans put two more goals up on the board, finishing the game with a 4-1 victory.
John Brown will attempt to finish its Chicago trip with an even record when the ladies visit neighboring Trinity Christian (Ill.) tomorrow night. Kick-off is set for 1:00 p.m.
