LUBBOCK, Texas (October 13, 2012) — John Brown (5-5-1, 1-3-0 SAC) used four different goal scorers as the offense finally broke free in a 5-0 victory at Lubbock Christian (6-3-3, 2-1-1 SAC) this afternoon, posting its first Sooner Athletic Conference win of the season.

Daniel Forry netted a pair of goals while JBU also received markers from Ryan Duncan, Eli Simonsen and Zari Prescod in the lopsided victory.

The Golden Eagles broke it open early as Forry scored goals six minutes apart in the 13th and 19th minute to give the visitors a quick two-goal lead.

In the 35th minute, John Brown added another goal when Duncan added his fourth goal of the year, forcing LCU to change goaltenders.

The substitution didn’t help the Chapparals as Eli Simonsen scored just two minutes later.

JBU was able to score on each shot on goal in the first half en route to a commanding 4-0 lead at the half.

“This is a huge win for the guys,” said head coach John Miglarese. “All the credit goes to them and my assistant, Jesse (Charles). He did an excellent job with the squad while I was away.”

The John Brown offense continued its strong play into the second half, maintaining strong ball possession and peppering the Lubbock Christian net with shots.

In the 63rd minute, the Golden Eagles closed the scoring with a goal coming off the foot of the freshman Prescod, pushing the lead to 5-0.

John Brown outshot the host squad 15-9, including a commanding 8-2 advantage in the first half.

Pablo Garcia turned in a strong performance in goal, saving each of the four LCU shots sent his way. It was Garcia’s first clean sheet of the season and his eighth in three seasons.

The Golden Eagles will return to the pitch on Wednesday (Oct. 17) when it hosts St. Gregory’s at Alumni Field. Kick-off is set for 3:00 p.m.
