Cross Country Programs Begin 2012 in Tulsa

TULSA, Okla. (September 1, 2012) — The John Brown cross country programs opened its 2012 season in Tulsa today against big-name institutions such as University of Tulsa, University of Oklahoma and Oklahoma State.

However, multiple Golden Eagles posted impressive finishes despite stiff competition.

JBU’s Melissa Roth finished in 34th place, posting a two-mile time of 13:17. Also finishing in the top 40 were Valarie Kliewer in 37th place and Kari Miller in 40th place.

Kliewer notched a time of 13:29 while Miller turned in a 13:42 performance.

The men were paced by a time of 22:42 by Tekste Gebresiasse in the four-mile race, good enough for a 20th place finish.

Rounding out the top 40 were Marcos Gutierrez with a time of 23:10 (24th place) before a pair of Golden Eagles finished back-to-back as Caleb Fuller and Kenny Crane finished in 28th and 29th place, respectively.

John Brown will return to the course on Friday (Sept. 7) when it travels to Little Rock for the University of Arkansas at Little Rock Invitational.
