Golden Eagles Claim Share of Program's First Tournament Championship

HUTCHINSON, Kan. (October 9, 2012) — Freshman Stephen Allen's two-day total of 144 vaulted John Brown into a tie with tournament host Sterling (Kan.) at the Warrior Invite today, held at the Carey Park Golf Course in Hutchinson, Kan.

Allen started the tournament strong, carding a three-under 68 on the first day before shooting a 76 on day two. Despite the eight-stroke difference, the 144 mark handed Allen top individual honors.

Allen's 68 on day one also marked a single-day best of any individual at the Warrior Invite.

Finishing tied for second was freshman Sam Greenleaf who carded a 73-72-145, helping JBU clinch two of the top three individual efforts at the tournament.

Freshman Connor Reed's 79-79-157 tied him with Friends' (Kan.) Jake Buskirk at the No. 15 slot.

Sophomore Tommy Wright completed the scoring for JBU as the Huntsville, Ark. native shot 82-83-165, capturing a three-way tie for 27th place.

As both John Brown and Sterling finished with an identical two-day score of 600, the tournament would technically be decided by each team's fifth man score. Sterling's Lincoln Redmond bested Wright's score by 12 strokes.

After boasting a team-best shooting and finish in the fall season, JBU will look to continue its successes into the spring season. The Golden Eagles will look to finalize its schedule in the coming weeks.
