Five Players Finish in Double-Digit Scoring, John Brown Races Past Ecclesia, 90-37

SILOAM SPRINGS, Ark. (November 16, 2012) — For the second time this season, the Golden Eagles have turned in a victory over Ecclesia (Ark.), this time it was to the tune of 90-37 tonight at Bill George Arena in the first day of contests in the 2012 Quality Inn Classic.

John Brown shot 52.5 percent from the floor in the blowout win. Leading the way was freshman Brooke Barker who netted 15 points on 6-of-11 shooting, including three triples. Keeping pace with Barker, junior forward Kortni Barenberg also turned in 15 points on 5-of-8 shooting.

JBU built a 25-point advantage over the course of the first half (41-16) as Barenberg chipped in all 15 points in the first half.

The runaway continued in the second half as John Brown finished the match with its highest margin, 53, as a pair of Laura Brown free throws extended the Golden Eagle lead to 90-37.

Joining Barenberg and Barker in double-digits were Morgan Ankrom, Kami Garrison, and Sierra Shipley.

Ankrom knocked down a game-high seven field goals en route to a 14-point performance. Shipley and Garrison each contributed 12 and 11 points, respectively.

Three players keyed the JBU effort on the glass as Ankrom, Lindsey McHenry and Abbie Warren each pulled down four rebounds as John Brown held the 47-34 advantage on the boards.

With the win, the Golden Eagles improve to 2-4 overall on the season. Ecclesia falls to 1-7.

John Brown will now look to sweep the tournament when it hosts Crowley's Ridge (Ark.) to a 3:00 p.m. matinee matchup on Saturday (Nov. 17). The Pioneers fell last night to nationally-ranked College of the Ozarks (Mo.) tonight, 113-68.
