JBU Defeats Southwestern Adventist By 40 Points
Siloam Springs, Ark. (November 15, 2001) - The Golden Eagles of John Brown University crushed the Knights of Southwestern Adventist University in a 98-58 debacle on Thursday.
The easy victory comes after a 85-73 loss to Lyon on Monday. The Golden Eagles now own a 4-1 record and are perfect at home.
JBU was led by four players who scored in double figures. Senior forward Nathan Law, senior forward Aldo McKay and freshman forward Reyjavick De Garcia all had a dozen points. Senior forward Chris Cameron had ten points in the game.
Sophomore guard Trey fisher dished out seven assists to lead JBU, and senior Jahir Mejia grabbed seven rebounds as did De Garcia and Law.
In fact, the Golden Eagles owned the boards, collecting 54 as a team while SWAU garnered a mere 19.
Scoring nearly a point per possession, JBU was up 55-24 at the half, and increased its lead over SWAU to 40 before time expired.
The lone bright spot for SWAU was the play of sophomore guard James Whitfield, who dropped 22 points on the Golden Eagles.
JBU has two more games before the Thanksgiving break. The next opponent the Golden Eagles face will be Park College on Monday, Nov. 19 at home with a start time of 7:30 p.m. The following evening JBU will take on Messenger college at the same place and time.
