Siloam Springs, Ark. (November 9, 2001) - The John Brown University Golden Eagles earned a quality NAIA Division I victory on the road winning 72-57 over the Park University Pirates on Thursday night in Kansas City, MO. JBU used a 10-0 run midway through the second half to pull away from the Pirates. Once again Senior Aldo McKay dominated the glass pulling off his second double-double of the season with 12 points and 11 rebounds. His front-court mate, NAIA All-American Jahir Mejia, led the Golden Eagles with 17 points and 7 rebounds. Nathan Law also hit double figures scoring 11 points. Park was led by Marvin Cash with 12 points and 7 assists. JBU is now 2-0 on the season.
The Golden Eagles showed improvement from the season opener on Tuesday. "Our team made an assertive effort to improve from our game earlier in the week. I was very proud of the team's effort and execution. If we continue to improve we could be looking at a fun season ahead of us," coach John Sheehy.
The "Toilet Paper Game" tradition continues Saturday as JBU's fans will litter the court with toilet paper after the Golden Eagles first home basket of the season. The tradition has grown into one of the biggest events of the year on campus and one of the most noted in small college athletics in the area. JBU host Rhema College out of Tulsa at 5:00 p.m., immediately following the women's game versus Lyon College.
