JBU Women Fall to SAC Co-Leaders Southern Nazarene 65-43

Siloam Springs, Ark. (January 18, 2002) — The John Brown University women’s basketball ran into another SAC buzz saw on Thursday night as the ran into the No. 3 ranked SNU Crimson Storm. SNU came into the game as one of three teams in the SAC undefeated and left with that status intact by beating JBU 65-43. JBU is now 9-8 overall and 1-5 in conference play.

A slow start doomed the Golden Eagles as they were down by double figures at the 10-minute mark of the first half. After that point the Golden Eagles played right with the high powered Crimson Storm. JBU played without backup point guard Michelle Gabbert due to an ankle injury.

Sophomore post Ndeye Ndiaye led the SNU Crimson Storm with 14 points. JBU had three players score in double digits-junior guard Lara Keeling, 11 points, junior post Katie Elliot, 10 points, and senior forward Sophie Voordeckers, 10 points-but the defensive pressure of SNU kept JBU from getting into any real flow in order to make up the lost ground.

JBU’s next game is this Saturday at 1:00 p.m.at home against SAC opponent St. Gregory’s University.
