(February 27, 2004) - (Fort Smith-AP) -- Federal officials are investigating a computer hacker traced to Sri Lanka who disrupted business at the Benton-Washington Water Association. Utility manager Scott Borman says the F-B-I has not made any arrests but traced the hacking attempts and files to an Internet provider in Sri Lanka. The association prevented three attempts to intrude into the computer system in December before the hacker broke into the e-mail server on December 27th. The intruder planted files that caused the e-mail server to crash, keeping the server down for three days.
