JBU Women’s Tennis Suffers Two Losses

Siloam Springs, Ark. (March 3, 2004) — Playing on the Harding University tennis courts on Tuesday, the Golden Eagle women were defeated by Harding University 9-1 and Lyon College 5-4.

JBU’s Raynisha Robinson defeated Denise Pascuzzi of Harding 1-6, 6-4, 10-8 for the only victory against the Bisons. In action against Lyon College, the JBU women won 3 singles and one doubles match and came within one game of winning a second doubles as they were defeated 4-5. Melanie Regier defeated Lyon’s Rachel Nicholson 7-5 and 6-1, Silvy Perkins bested Erw Boardman 6-1 and 6-3, and Raynish Robinson topped Heather Mize 6-4 and 6-0 in the singles matches. In double action, Perkins and Robinson defeated Boardman and Mize 8-1 for the win. The doubles team of Regier and Kristin Deweese lost their double match 8-9 and 7-3 in a close contest.

The double loss drops JBU women to 1-9 for the season. The women will travel to Oklahoma City on Thursday to take on Southern Nazarene University and Oklahoma Christian University.
