Is stupidity a crime?

(March 25, 2004) — (Harrison-AP) -- A man who tried to cash a stolen check at a Harrison bank and left his driver's license with the teller has pleaded innocent to stealing the check and other items from a car the day before. Police say 39-year-old Steve Allen Miller took a cell phone, police scanner, eighty music C-Ds and a 243-dollar check from a man's car. Officers arrested Miller at the address listed on his driver's license. He is charged with theft of property and breaking and entering. The bank teller says Miller sped off from the bank's drive-through window when she recognized the check as stolen and asked him for more identification.
