JBU Soccer Announces Signing of Salvadorian
Siloam Springs, Ark. (March 30, 2004) — Oscar Amaya of San Salvador, El Salvador has signed a Letter of Intent to play soccer and attend John Brown University. Amaya played for the Under-17 El Salvadorian National Team in 2000 and 2001 where he was able to play in several international matches. In addition to the experience on the U-17 National Team, Amaya has also participated on other age group national teams. His high school team, Colegio San Francisco, earned a second place finish in national tournament play in San Salvador.
“I am really excited that Oscar will be playing for us next fall,” said Coach Bob Gustavson. “He is a strong player with excellent technique and a powerful shot. I hope he will score a number of goals for us next season. His maturity and experience should be an asset for our young team.”
Amaya is the son of Oscar Amaya and plans to study Business Administration at John Brown University.
